I am concerned with harvesting or indirectly promoting the harvest of any member of the Fomitopsis genus in quantity. These fungi are perennial species and while widespread over most of the Pacific Northwest, they are in decline due to on-going drought and changes in stand structure and integrity. They are slow growing and are very susceptible to over-harvest by unscrupulous individuals especially when overseas markets are paying high dollar for popular medicinal species. Please try to indicate that Fomitopsis is a perennial fungi species and that individuals can easily live for decades. Thank you.
